Red Hot Chili Peppers (1983-present)

Red Hot Chili Peppers (1983-present)
The Red Hot Chili Peppers was formed in Los Angeles in 1983. The band's former guitarist Hillel Slovak died of a heroin overdose in 1988 so Jack Irons, the band's former drummer, resigned, he was probably freaked! At the beginning of their carreer, they weren't too successful, it only started when they released their 5th album Blood Sugar Sex Magik in 1991 that they were really getting famous... They still are today. You can't really identify their music style; it's always rock but they mix it up with funk and rap and psychedelic rock. They always keep a beachy style as well. They often try to make a point through their songs about something and they seem really proud bout living in calfornia! GO CALIFORNIA! =)

Nirvana (1987-1994)

Nirvana (1987-1994)
Nirvana was an American hard rock band and Kurt Cobain was the lead singer... He was a depressed guy, apparently it originated from his parents divorce. "I remember feeling ashamed, for some reason. I was ashamed of my parents. I couldn't face some of my friends at school anymore, because I desperately wanted to have the classic, you know, typical family. Mother, father. I wanted that security, so I resented my parents for quite a few years because of that." -- Says Kurt Cobain. He had a lot of problems when he was young because he failed at school, was friends with a gay boy and would spray stuff like "God Is Gay" or "Gay Sex Rules" on walls and trucks. All his difficulties caused his parents at whom he would live seperately to kick him out, forcing Kurt Cobain to live under bridges and sneak into his mother's basement at night. He did manage to have a few jobs but since he played guitar since he was 14, he met up with producers at rock shows in Washington. He quickly got famous but didn't have stable band members until he met Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl. He had a child with Courtney Love... Most of the Nirvana fans didn't like Courtney Love because they say she was a bad influence for Kurt and even compared the couple to John Lennon and Yoko Ono! They were both addict to Heroin. Kurt Cobain's death caused a lot of mysteries. Officialy he killed himself and was found dressed like a girl with a suicide note. Some people think Courtney Love muredered him (my mom for instance) because she IS a bit crazy but the couple were really inlove, they both said it. "I can't believe how much happier I am. At times I even forget that I'm in a band, I'm so blinded by love. I know that sounds embarrassing, but it's true. I could give up the band right now. It doesn't matter, but I'm under contract." -- Says Kurt Cobain.

Pink Floyd (1965–present)

Pink Floyd (1965–present)
Pink Floyd was a really cool English band, they were known for their long songs with psychedelic sound effects that made their music seem like a drug that lifted you. "When you're alone in your bedroom, turn off the lights, lie on your bed, close your eyes and listen to Pink Floyd with good head phones and a bass booster, you just go places you've never been before" -- Says my dad! Haha seems funny but it is a nice experience! Try it, "The Dark Side Of The Moon" was their most famous album, I'm sure you know the album cover by heart: with the black background, the triangle and the rainbow?? Anyway, at the beginning from 1965 to 1968, Syd Barrett was the leader of the band but he also took a lot of drugs that made him completely lose it - his health wasn't looking too good - so the rest of the band rejected him. He was still part of the band, but then Gilmour and Wright came along and with Waters, they were on the right road again. The leading trio made Pink Floyd very successful.

David Bowie (1964-present)

David Bowie (1964-present)
David Bowie was an English rock singer, his music style really changed over the years, you can really identify in his discography when he wrote his songs; whether it was in the 60s or the 80s, ... His first album didn't get any success but his second album "Space Oddity" sure did! He often represented himself disguised as a feline and had really strange hairdos! But the strangest was his eyes: one eye is brown and the other one is blue! =O Anyway, eh always knew how to put on a great show. In the 60s he was more into weird sounds and space stuff, then in the 70s his music was more rock with "Ziggy Stardust" and in the 80s his songs were more 80s pop and even disco with "Let's Dance" he had the typical sound every singer had in the 80s.

Electric Light Orchestra (1970-present)

Electric Light Orchestra (1970-present)
Electric Light Orchestra aka ELO was an English band in the 70s. They had a really special music style because they added a lot of weird sounds behind that made you feel as if you were in a shuttle in outer space! They were really cool espeacially in their songs "Mr. Blue Sky" and "Xanadu" (Sang by Olivia Newton-John from Grease)... Their symbol was a sort of flying saucer with bright lights and written "ELO" that you can see above. The members of the band would always change and there were a heck of a lot! Because they used many many instruments even cellos and violins which is unusual but made the band rock. The band used to be called "The Move" but they changed their name and added loads of new members, but some of the members of ELO were also part of the band "Wizzard" and when the band stopped playng, Bev Bevan formed the band "ELO Part II".
